Curriculum Vitae
Martin Golz was born in Eisfeld
(south-west of the former East-Germany)
in September 1959.
He married in May 1996 with
Dr. Ute Careen Schwager
(Physician, specialist in psychiatry).
Together they have three children:
Friedrich (born in November 1989),
Leonhard (born
in September 1997) and
Wiebke (born in September 1999).

Research Interests
- Driver fatigue, microsleep episodes, vigilance tests
- Soft Computing methods: artificial neural networks, fuzzy
and neuro-fuzzy methods, genetic algorithms, wavelet domain methods
- Biomedical signal processing: electrophysiology,
posturography, eyetracking
- Time series analysis
- Biorhythms: Modelling the sleep wake cycle and influence of light
Research Activities
1995 - present: research in applications of Soft Computing methods,
especially in the area of biomedical signal processing; most projects
were concerned with discrimination of spontaneous activites in the
ongoing electroencephalogram (EEG) and electrooculogram (EOG).
1988 - present: research in biomedical engineering with applications in
evoked potentials, polysomnography, posturography, eyetracking.
1984 - 1988: research in thin-film optics with focus
on surface plasmon-polaritons; analysis
of experimental data using models of very thin, multilayer systems;
solutions of the dispersion relation of multilayer systems,
also under consideration of nonlocal and of nonlinear optical
constants.
Scholastic Training
1985: Diploma of Electrical Engineering,
Technical University Ilmenau, Germany.
1990: Doctoral degree in Experimental Physics (Optics),
Technical University Ilmenau, Germany; title of the thesis:
'Elektromagnetische Oberflächenwellen in Schichtsystemen -
Beiträge zur Weiterentwicklung der Theorie und zur numerischen
Auswertung optischer Experimente'
('Electromagnetic
Surface Waves in
Multilayer Systems - Further Developments to Improve the Theory
and the Numerical Analysis of Optical Experiments')
